GENERAL QUESTIONS

Why don’t you offer unlimited bandwidth?

The reason we do not offer unlimited bandwidth is because there is no such thing! Web hosts that offer such services are providing you with false advertising. Most of them will kick you out once your website starts to grow and use a little more bandwidth. For more information on unlimited bandwidth, please visit http://www.unlimband.com/

Do you allow warez and adult websites?

We do not allow any kind of warez content on our servers, we allow only legal adult content at our discretion. Please refer to our “Terms of Service” for more information.

Is there a minimum contract or commitment?

No, there is no contract or commitment. You can at any time contact our support department and request a cancellation of your account. No further payments will be requested from you, however all moneys paid will be forfeited.

Can you host my subdomain or do I have to have a domain name?

We can host your subdomain. However, the owner of the domain has to configure your subdomain to point to the IP address we provide you.

ACCOUNT QUESTIONS

How long does it take for my website to be setup and ready to use?

We will setup your account as soon as possible after you have placed your order (usually within 12 hours). Once you have received your welcome email (which is sent to you upon your account setup), you can login to your account via FTP and upload your website.

My account has been setup, why isn’t my domain working?

After you change the name servers for your domain at the registrar where your domain is registered, it can take anywhere between 24 and 72 hours before the changes start to take effect.

If I sign up with one of your hosting plans now, can I upgrade/downgrade later?

Of course! You can at anytime, upgrade or downgrade your account without any processing fees or interruption of service. All you have to do is to let us know what hosting plan you would like to upgrade/downgrade to. We can also customize a plan to fit your exact needs.

Are my account files backed up regularly?

Yes. All accounts are backed up on a daily basis. However, it is strongly recommended that you keep an up to date backup of your account on a local computer (i.e. your desktop).

How do I backup my account?

You can download your daily account backup by logging into your account control panel and clicking on “backup”. There you will find a backup of your home directory, your SQL databases and your email aliases/filters. Simply click on each link to download the backup files.

 EMAIL QUESTIONS

Can I change my MX record to use services like Everyone.net’s web mail?

Yes. You can change your MX record from within your control panel to have any server handle your emails.

What are my incoming and outgoing mail servers?

You can use “mail.yourdomain.com” for your incoming and outgoing mail.

How can I access the web mail without logging in to the control panel everytime?

You can access your web mail account by going directly to “http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail/”. Make sure you have an ending slash (“/”).

DOMAIN NAME QUESTIONS

Do you register domain names?

Yes. Please contact our sales or support department with the domain name you would like to register for additional information and pricing.

Can I host multiple domains using one account?

Yes. You can host additional domain names on sub domains of your main account. For example, we can point “Your2ndDomain.com” to “sub.YourMainDomain.com” and have it appear as a real account to everyone else. This feature is very useful for people who own more than one domain name. However, if you need to host each domain with its own separate features, we suggest you take a look at our reseller packages.

FTP QUESTIONS

Can I access my account via FTP 24/7?

Yes. You can login to your account via FTP or your personal control panel day and night to manage your account.

CONTROL PANEL QUESTIONS

Do I get a control panel to manage my account?

Of course! You can login to your control panel by going to http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/ and entering your account login and password. You can find more information about our control panel here.

I changed my control panel password and now I can’t login.

Your account name and password are both case-sensitive (for example, if your password is “abc123” and you type it in as “ABC123”, it will not work). Make sure that you type in your password correctly and that your whole account name is in lowercase.

How can I change my control panel theme?

To have your control panel theme changed, please contact our support department with your account ID, domain name and the theme of your choice.

Money back guarantee on all our hosting plans

To prove to you how confident we are in our services, we will offer you a 30-day money back guarantee on our annual hosting plans . If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with our services and cancel your account within the initial 30 days for our annual hosting from the initial order date of your account we will refund you all your money described in Terms of Service. Please note: The money back guarantee does not apply if your account is terminated at any time within the guaranteed period for breach of our terms and conditions, or if you go over the allocated and allowed bandwidth usage for your plan. Accounts that are renewed for additional terms are also not subject to our money back guarantees. We reserve the right not to honor the money back guarantee where the customer has requested a refund in the past.

Price freeze guarantee

With Osirisnet, you never need to worry about an increase in your fees, as when you sign up for one of our packages and remain a continuous customer your fee will not alter while your payment plan remains the same. Please be aware that the price freeze guarantee does not apply to our ‘specials’ or discounted web hosting plans or if your account is suspended for non payment this offer will no longer apply.

DEVELOPMENT AND DATABASE QUESTIONS

Do you support Perl/CGI and PHP?

Yes, we support both Perl/CGI and PHP.

Do you support MySQL?

Yes, we support MySQL databases. You can manage your databases from within your web based control panel.

Do you have any preinstalled scripts that I can use?

Yes. We have a variety of Perl/CGI and PHP scripts that you can use. To give you some examples, we have message boardcounterguestbookchat and more.

What is the path to Perl?

The path to Perl is: /usr/bin/perl

What is the path to Sendmail?

The path to Sendmail is: /usr/sbin/sendmail

SCRIPTS AND SOFTWARE QUESTIONS

Can I run a message board on my account?

Yes. We support both Perl/CGI and PHP message boards. However, there are some older message boards that use flat files instead of a database (such as MysQL) to store all data which in its turn causes high server loads and is a lot slower. Therefore, we only allow message boards that use database.

Which message boards do you recommend?

vBulletin and phpBB are two fully featured message boards we highly recommend.

Will you install a message board for me?

Yes. Simply send an email to support with your domain name and FTP login and password. If you would like us to install your vBulletin board, please include your vBulletin customer number and password as well.

Message board installation pricing:

First time install per account ť $20.00Second time install and up ť $10.00 per installation. Upgrades ť $20.00 per hour (USD$).

Can I have access to SSH?

Osirisnet enforces a strict “No SSH” policy. We will also instantly suspend any account that uses a script which can be used to elevate privileges or enable SSH services. In the event that this occurs no refund will be payable to the account holder or payee.

How do I place an order?

You place an order by simply going through our online process. Create an account, add the domain name to your account, and at the end of the process you will receive a confirmation of your order. Once the payment has been approved, the setup process takes 48-hours. The server will then go to an online status and you will receive an email notification with your Username and Password. You may then login to the server and begin setting it up.

 What Methods of payment do you accept?

Osirisnet accepts Visa, MasterCard, Diners, Discover and American Express. At this time, we do not accept checks, EFT, Bank Wires. We do not provide invoices except email payment confirmation.

Will Osirisnet move my domain to my new account for me?

You will be responsible for uploading your domain to your account. You must have a registered domain before you can sign up for some of a web hosting plans, or you can by Domain name from us.

What are your network connections?

Osirisnetis is one server of the SecureBeach’s  multi-homed network (using Cisco Networking Gear) with connections that range from DS3 to OC3 through Allegiance and SBC. The servers will be on a 10 MBPS connection by default.

Will I have Root Control?

You will have full root/admin access to your account. You are welcome to install whatever you like, make whatever changes, and add mail accounts,  sub-domains, FTP Accounts or whatever you like. Any other software or method of installation will not be supported and Osirisnet will not be responsible for any problems that may occur. If it is necessary to restore the server due to a non supported installation Osirisnet will charge you a restoration fee.

Can I resell the space on your server?

Yes you may and this can be a very lucrative business. You are welcome to install whatever you like. You may sell space to different people who want to host their websites but do not need their own server. This is known as Shared or Virtual Hosting. You may charge whatever price you like since you are the host. These tools were designed to make your life much simpler as the single point administrator. This tool allows you to manage multiple domains very easily on a Linux Server. It also allows you to add new domains and mail accounts by simply pointing and clicking. It also gives you the ability to provide a control panel for your end users so they may do some light administration on their own sites.

Is there a guarantee on hardware components?

Yes. In the event of a hardware-related problem, failed component will be immediately replaced. Replacements are usually made within 24 hours. We will make every attempt to correct the problem as soon as possible. You will be notified by e-mail once the problem is resolved.

Will Osirisnet monitor my account?

Osirisnet uses a ping monitoring system to ensure the hosts are responding. In the event that a hosts or server does not respond,  technicians are paged and will address the issue.

What is your policy on bandwidth?

We do not cap or restrict your bandwidth. Your traffic may burst to as much as the server requires. Each host comes with enough of data transfer per month.

How is bandwidth measured?

Yes, the bandwidth is metered and it is measured by polling the switch port for the server every 5 minutes to measure both the in and out bandwidth usage.

Will there be a statistics program installed on my server?

The Control Panel servers come with Webalyzer by default. You may install whatever package you are comfortable with on the entry level Red Hat Linux server.

What software is available?

Linux: The servers come with a standard install of Red Hat Linux depending on which package you choose. Some of the Control Panel Software only supporting certain versions of Red Hat Linux at this time. Each server will include Apache Sendmail, Bind, Perl, PHP 4 and MySql. Plesk for example uses Q-mail instead of Sendmail so it depends on which package you choose. Telnet and FTP access. SSH and SSL come enabled on the servers as well. All software depends upon which plan you purchase.

Will my server have a web-based control panel?

For our Red Hat Linux servers, we have a web-based interface called cPanel, see http://cpanel.net  for online manuals and screenshots of this interface. This tool allows you to manage subdomains, emails, CGI scripts etc. very easily.

What are the common software applications available with your server? What are they for?

We have Apache, Sendmail, Bind, and Perl pre-installed.
Apache is the web serving software of Linux.
Sendmail is the server’s mail software. With Sendmail you can set up mail accounts, forwarding of mail, and can add as many accounts as you like.
Bind is the server’s DNS or Name Servers software.
Perl is a standard scripting language that allows you to program cgi’s and system administration scripts.

What other software will Osirisnet install on my host?

 We will install PHP4 and MySql.

Will OsirisnetI nstall SSL (Secure Socket Layer) on my server?

SSL comes enabled by default with all of our servers. You must provide the certificate; SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is required for secure transactions over the web. You may secure a single domain using one certificate ie: yoursecuredomain.com and then create directories to provide individual secure pages. Ex. yoursecuredomain.com/user1. Osirisnet sale ChainedSSL with less prices on the net.

Can I create mail accounts on my server? What software is included for mail?

Servers will have software called Sendmail installed at no additional cost. You can create as many email accounts as you like and setup up auto-responders, forwarding, aliasing, and any other mail services you require using Sendmail. The Plesk software uses Q-mail but is also unlimited POP and SMTP or accounts.

Are any e-commerce solutions available or included?

There are many e-commerce packages on the market and  we include an e-commerce solution ie. Interchange Shopping Cart. However, you may add any e-commerce you like. Tip: Here are the 5 basic things you’ll need to effectively run an e-commerce site; e-commerce software package or store front, a shopping cart, a merchant account, an SSL certificate and a payment gateway or an organization that processes the transactions. All of these solution are provided by Osirisnet resources.

What is Name Based Hosting? Do I need an IP for each domain?

Name based hosting is a method used to allow a server to host multiple domains with only one IP address. You do not need an IP address for each site; in fact, you only need one IP for the entire server. Name based hosting does not affect the performance or appearance of the domains hosted. You may get as many IP as you can justify and ARIN’s opinion is that the only reason you should have to get a specific IP for a domain is if you are running SSL on that site.

What security measures are taken at Osirisnet?

Osirisnet takes security very seriously. Every precaution is taken to ensure that absolutely no one has access to our server other than technical staff. We do not monitor content and do not release customer profiles or disseminate customer information.

Can I get additional IP addresses?

Additional IP’s are $5.00 per IP per month. There is also a one time $20.00 setup charge each time you add IP’s despite how many you are adding. You may get as many as you can justify. The $20.00 is a processing fee for the justification through ARIN. Keep in mind that you may use Name Based Hosting instead of IP Based Hosting. ARIN’s opinion is that the only reason you should have to get a specific IP for a domain is if you are running SSL on that site. Due to justification through ARIN, additional IPs will incur a setup time of 72 hours.

Does Osirisnet offer Technical Support?

Yes, Osirisnet’s technical support is limited to trouble ticketing system. For each technical problem, you must buy trouble ticket ($20.00), what is standard one hour work time. This solution is generalized because from cPanel each customer has unambiguous help and several links to help sites.

Does Osirisnet allow adult based content?

Osirisnet does not allow any adult related sites on our server. Please read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
